Engineering BTEC National Diploma (Level 3)
This two year, Level 3 course has 18 modules. The course consists of six core units, the remaining twelve are specific to the route chosen. Candidates will study nine units each year. Units include:

The course carries point equivalence to 3 A Levels.
Teaching/Assessment
Assessment is through ongoing projects and practical assignments. In the final year students will work on a major project involving research activities.
All students take part in work experience programmes in Year 2.
Entry Requirements
Students will require 4 GCSEs at Grades C or above, one of which must include Science and/or Maths
Mature students without formal qualifications will need to show a portfolio of work at interview.
Progression
This qualification can lead to:
Higher Education for example biochemical science, food technology, human physiology, materials science, medical physics, nursing and sports science
Employment: the course supports the standards recognised for education and training in various sectors including the chemical industry, healthcare, medical and laboratory based science, food and catering industries.
Further Education: the course enables students to progress to other science related qualifications such as GCE and VRQ.
