Engineering Manufacture BTEC National Diploma (Level 3)
This two year, level 3 course develops the students into the specialist areas of engineering.
The course covers 18 units in total. These include 6 core units and 12 optional units, which could include: Electrical/Mechanical Principles, Welding Technology, Computer Aided Design, Programmable Logic Controls, Engineering Materials and Engineering Design.
Teaching/Assessment
The course is assessed by written assignments and the demonstration of technical ability in relation to each unit of study. All units are assessed internally, with the exception of the IVA Project, which is externally assessed.
Entry Requirements
Students should possess four GCSEs at Grade C or above (these must include Maths and Science), or possess an equivalent qualification. A commitment to meet targets and deadlines is essential.
Relevant Industrial experience will be accepted for more mature students.
They will also be required to attend an interview with the engineering technology staff.
Progression
Successful completion of this course enables students to gain sufficient UCAS points to progress to further degree level studies within a university or HE college.
Students completing this course also have the option to enter the workplace and further enhance their skills on a work based advanced modern apprenticeship programme..
Additional Information
Students will be expected to purchase overalls and safety boots for workshop activities and recommended text books for the course.
