Computing AS/A Level (Level 3)
The A Level syllabus is designed to provide a broad study of the principles, properties and limitations of computers. You should gain an understanding of:
* the use of computers in a wide range of information processing applications
* the principles involved in the development of a computer system for a particular application
* the underlying mechanisms and methods which allow a computer system to perform the required tasks effectively.
In addition, students will be taught how to program computers using a structured programme language.
Teaching/Assessment
The skills acquired will be required to undertake practical programming projects in both the first and second year of the A Level course.
The course will be assessed by external examinations along with coursework throughout the year.
Entry Requirements
Students will require 5 GCSE's at grade C or above.
Students who have studied GCSE Information Systems may have an advantage.
Progression
Most students go on to study at University. Computing graduates are highly sought after and there are excellen career opportunities
available at home or abroad.
